This is one of those movies that I should have read the synopsis before putting it on our list to watch. And I should have looked into who the filmmakers were. I cannot stand A24 movies. They are so dark. Completely slow moving and almost always boring as hell. This one is no exception. I actually feel bad for Dunst that she has to take roles like this. Basically, this woman is addicted to Pot and is dealing with the fact that she helps her mother kill herself using it. She gets high enough every night to where she doesn't remember what she's done. And then she just spirals out of control, more and more lost in her thoughts.
One thing I hate about this movie is the back and forth between different back drops. Like one second she's in the pot shop, then she's at home, then she's flash backing, then she's in the woods, etc. It just doesn't make any sense. I feel like they tried to be like Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk, but it just didn't work at all.
Another thing about this movie. It was like a more boring, less musically inclined Across the Universe. With multiple scenes that show her tripping out and imagining things that are in the sky and what not. It made me dizzy watching it. Also, she's wearing nighties like the entire movie. I don't understand, I guess she's just so far into the drugs that she doesn't even have the energy to get dressed anymore?
I hated this movie and don't recommend it. (0/5).
