Starring: Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed
Director: Ruben Fleischer Runtime: 1 hour, 52 minutes Action | Sci-Fi | 2018 I remember when this movie first came to theater - I know, I know, it wasn’t that long ago - but what I remember about it film twitter world. Everyone was bashing on it and I couldn’t understand why. Now after seeing, I still don’t understand why. I thought this film was good and action packed through its entirety. I really liked the whole science fiction alien aspect of the story (I’m sure this is part of the Venom comic books, but I wouldn’t know anything about that). It was a completely dark movie and had a very slow start, but not so slow to where I would have turned it off before the good parts start to happen. Tom Hardy plays Eddie Brock who is accidentally exposed to a symbiote (a.k.a Alien Species that take up human bodies) and becomes Venom. He can transition between Eddie and Venom easily while struggling with the “evil” tendencies that Venom has. Even though he has those tendencies though, he is the good guy in this movie and I really enjoyed the plot. Both with the humans and the symbiotes the good and bad guys were the same, even before total body take over. Michelle Williams plays Anne, Eddie’s ex-girlfriend and overall helper throughout the movie. The relationship on screen was good and I thought Hardy and Williams did well together. Williams is usually good in everything she does, compared to other actresses she has such a wide range of movie characters she plays it's refreshing to see her in something not so serious this time. I also loved see Stan Lee once more. I really hope he was able to make an appearance in Captain Marvel before he left this Earth. I feel like I need to rewatch all the Marvel movies to try and spot him in all of them. It wasn’t until recently that I started noticing that he made cameos in all his movies. Such a wonderful creator. I actually remember getting advance screening tickets to see this, but I was doing something important that night and could not make it. Probably something with the wedding. I’m going to give this movie a “Liked It” and suggest that every adult see this one. Be mindful it does take a bit to get going, but once it does there’s a lot of action to keep you going to the end! (3.5/5).
