The Stuff has "80's" movie written all over it. Well, that's probably because it was made in the 80's. The music sounded completely like Indiana Jones to me and the effects well... not as good as it as they would be nowadays. But that fact doesn't deter from the story line at all. The Stuff is about a "goo" that is found one day just seeping up from the ground. The guy that finds it.. being the genius that he is, decides to put the unknown substance in his mouth to taste it. I'm pretty sure we've come a long way since the discovery of artificial sweeteners and discovering things by accident. Anyways, so they package and sell "The Stuff" and everyone starts to get hooked on the new tasty treat. Meanwhile, an ex-FBI agent named Mo, is trying to get to the bottom of this substance's discovery and consistency and eventually tries to end it's reign. allows me to relate to his ventures.. ya know with the whole FDA and chemistry portions. I also liked the role that the kid played, who he tries his hardest to get his family to see what's going on, but just can't.
As I mentioned before, the effects are too great. I mean, Mo literally punches someone's face off. And the scene while they are in the hotel room, it reminded me of two movies: Lucy because the victim ends up moving up the wall and onto the ceiling; and this one movie I watched once (I want to say it was a Halloween movie but I don't know) where the main character is in a hotel room trying to determine what's going on with a Halloween mask company's mask. Trying not to spoil too much, but this is quite the same thing - the company tries to use their product to vanquish the person trying to expose them. Ill have to try and track down what movie that is for you all, because I'm sure it's bugging you now. Overall, I'm going to give this movie a "Liked It" because I was able to enjoy it thoroughly. Thanks for reading!
