In the opening credits, The Invisible Man Returns states that this is a sequel. I guess you can call it that, however there are none of the same characters and this is a different story altogether. In this sequel, a man is in prison who was sentenced to death for his crimes. All of a sudden, he escapes and you know how? He’s invisible. The race is on for the police to track him down, and for his assistant to work on the antidote. Vincent Price stars in this film, remember him from The Last Man on Earth?

I would have to say that this film is better than the first for this reason: they actually tell you about the serum and what the side effects are. In the first movie, he just goes mad with no explanation at all. This film, however, mentions that overtime the serum starts to make you loco, which is why the race is on for the antidote. The Invisible Man Returns focuses more on the character that is invisible in the sense that he’s trying to overcome the instinct to be evil. I like that.

I also thought it was interesting to see the scientist working on the antidote. Using the invisible guinea pig was cool. As in the first movie, I was impressed with the effects of the floating clothes, etc. And I’m glad for a happier ending (if you don’t think about him going to jail that is). I’m going to give this movie an “okay” rating. It was much better than the first, but still wouldn’t have watched it the first time or again.
