The Hunger Games is based on a book of the same title and stars Jennifer Lawrence. In a dystopic country, Panam, there are two teenagers chosen from each district to fight to the death in an arena. This televised event is dubbed as “The Hunger Games.” Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) volunteers to save her sister during the reaping and is sent to the Capitol to compete in the hunger games along with Peeta (Josh Hutchinson), the other chosen candidate from District 12. After making it to the Capitol, it becomes evident that the Districts are extremely poor and not taken care of as well as there. Did I mention that the children from the Capitol aren’t chosen for the Hunger Games? That’s messed up.
allow for two victors (which is unheard of!) if the two are from the same district, thus adding more emphasis on their love story. Well, in the end SPOILER ALERT, both Katniss and Peeta are the two left standing in the arena. What does the game-maker do at that point? He realizes he’s not really allowed to let two people win and changes the rule on them, forcing them to pick who gets to live. Now, by this point we’ve realized that Katniss hates the Capitol, the Hunger Games, and being in the arena. So she decides that they will both die. Leaving the Capitol without their victor. Well, obviously, this did not sit well with the game-maker and is forced to allow them both to be victors.
In the end Katniss starts a revolution that she never intended to, President Snow is pissed, and turmoil starts to build up between the districts and the Capitol. It’s been quite a while since I have read the books, but I remember the first time I watched this movie thinking how well they followed the book! This film is full of action, adventure, and emotion. I’m giving it a Loved It.
