Starring: Douglas Smith, Lucien Laviscount, Cressida Bonas Director: Stacy Title Runtime: 1 hour, 37 minutes Horror | Thriller | 2017 Synopsis: Three friends stumble upon the horrific origins of a mysterious figure they discover is the root cause of the evil behind unspeakable acts. Well, the synopsis kind of explains it all. Three freshman rent a house and unleash an evil spirit. The manta is “Don’t Say It, Don’t Think It.” The more you think about it, the closer he gets. The more people you tell, the more people that die. That’s just how it works in this movie. You’d think that with this type of storyline, one of the characters would try to find a way to stop the man. Well, they do try to find out what they can, but how on Earth can you stop him? Long story short, and a quick SPOILER…. You can’t. END SPOILER There’s nothing special about this movie. Yes, there’s a few jump moments, but overall it’s not really that terrifying. The energy from the Bye Bye Man makes you hallucinate and think things that aren’t true. Much like Oculus which reviewed awhile ago. The acting in this film is what you’d expect from actors we’ve never heard of and a movie that didn’t get a whole lot of hype. I just like horror films, and any that have been released in the last few years should be added to the list. I’d ask for recommendations, but David I’m sure has a ton on the watch list already! I’m going to give The Bye Bye Man an “okay” rating. It was bloody, a mind bender, and nothing special. What was up with the dog? I don’t know. I feel like it was a useless part of the story. I’d like to hear more about the start of The Bye Bye Man rather than what he did in the past. Kind of like The Ring and her journey to discover how something began. The story just didn’t get me much closure. (2/5).
