The Bronze is far different from any of the other Olympic themed movies we have watched for this review series. One, it is not based on a true story, though is still about an Olympian so it still gets a spot on the series! And two, it is very, very scandalous throughout the entire movie. Starring Melissa Rauch (who you may know as Bernadette in The Big Bang Theory - my favorite character BTW), The Bronze tells the story of a past bronze Olympic medalist, Hope Ann Greggory, and her life after the Olympics. She tries to continue to use her stardom some ten years after her career, but frankly a lot of people have moved on and forgotten about her. She has completely let her life go - doing drugs, stealing, treating people like shit, etc. When her old coach kills herself, she is somewhat forced to coach the new star in town. At first, she doesn't want to lose her local stardom so sabotage is in the works. Finally, she comes around (ya know in like most movies) to help in aiding the young athlete to the world championships.
Well, with all that being said I'm giving this movie an "okay" rating. It wasn't complete awful to make me extremely mad that I watched it, but it wasn't really that great either. I just don't find this type of comedy amusing and I wouldn't recommend it. Sorry folks.
