Starring: Steve McQueen, Aneta Corsaut, Earl Rowe
Director: Irvin S. Yeaworth Jr Runtime: 1 hour, 26 minutes Horror | Sci-Fi | 1958 If you’ve been following our site for awhile now, you may remember when we reviewed The Stuff. I feel like this movie has similar aspects to it, being totally ridiculous to be scared of a "blob" or "stuff." I would say The Blob much better being without the comedy. I agreed to watch this one because I had heard so much about it, with it being such a big film when it was released decades ago. I sold as the “80 minutes of thrills” on the cover and actually really enjoyed it. For the life of me I cannot pinpoint why I find this movie so familiar. Perhaps I’ve seen it and don’t actually remember seeing it? The beginning and the end did not look familiar so I’m assuming that the film was on TV once and I watched the middle. I remember all the teenagers making a big deal and no one listening to them about it. Or was this another big aspect for another movie? The end line of the movie is “The Blob will stay frozen as long as it stays cold in the Arctic” or something to that extent. So does that mean, we could totally make a sequel now with the melting ice caps and global warming? I would totally go see that, but not if it’s like Harbinger Down. I’ll give this movie a “Liked It” rating. It was fun and exciting the entire time, and it’s a little crazy just being a blob and all but it was a little bit scary! (4/5).
