I knew that The Belko Experiment was a movie that was going to be bloody, but that’s generally all I knew. I did not read the synopsis before hand, and I am glad that I didn’t. This movie was a social experiment. One that has absolutely no boundaries. The experiment? Eighty Americans are locked inside the building, they are ordered to kill each other or to be killed. Frankly, it is an interesting concept, and interesting to watch.

If I’m not painting a good enough picture for you, let me tell you this. It was more or less The Hunger Games in an office setting. There are people that don’t want to kill anyone, so they run and hide and eventually fight back. And then there are the people that choose to kill others, like the alliances in The Hunger Games: actively seeking out people and murdering them.
There are some parts that I thought were cool for the movie, and there were others parts that I’m just like “wow she’s a dumb character.” Overall, this film was a bloody mess and it was perfectly acceptable under the circumstances. I’ve seen worse gore than here, so that makes me like it more than other movies.

I thought the acting was fine. A lot of the supporting actors that didn’t have a big role played the fearful characters that they should be. The boss (Goldwyn) was one of the bad guys in the building where Mike (Gallagher) and Leandra (Arjona) tried their hardest to not be a part of the sick game.

And that ending. That ending was perfect. I am really glad it ended that way. Seems like it sets up for another movie, and I think I would watch that.

I’m going to give The Belko Experiment a “Liked It” rating. It showed what humans would do if put in that situation, and honestly I’m sure that’s what would happen in real life. Kill or be killed. If you are a fan of horror movies with psychological aspects, then you’ll like this film. (4/5)
