I didn't realize that it had already been eight years since this happened. I remember when it happened for the most part, but not knowing much because I'm not a watcher of the news. I probably should be, I never know what is going on in the world. Anyways, Sully follows Chelsey Sullenberger, the pilot of the flight that landed in the Hudson in January of 2009. The flight was the victim of a bird strike, thus leaving both engines useless and the captain to make a decision in less than a minute.
The movie itself doesn't have much substance. It tells us what happened after the water landing. Though the outcome was a happy one, the aviation board were not too happy with Sully's actions and decision making. There was an investigation to see if landing in Hudson was really the best choice.
