The MovieSplit is a little bit different of a movie, and actually not what I had expected. From the trailer, it seemed like it would be a thriller about three girls that are kidnapped by a man with split personalities. Well, that is the case, but there is much more to the movie than that. The movie switches from the girls in their cell(s), to Casey when she was a child, to Barry (or Dennis, or Patricia, or Hedwig etc) as he is conflicted with all the personalities in his mind, to the good doctor who is trying to help him. As the film progresses, Casey starts to piece together the man and his different personalities that she has seen so far. The personalities themselves are all extremely different. You have your gay man, your OCD man, your nine year old boy, a woman, etc. Each one wants to "be in the light" and control Kevin's (his real name was Kevin) body. From what the movie explained, Kevin's inner-turmoil was like a waiting room. Each entity had it's own chair and for this particular time in his life, some of the
can do? Story tells that the beast eats impure humans (which is apparently the whole reasoning that Dennis has taken these girls as prisoner). Liked Its & Hated ItsWith all the personalities of Kevin being so completely different, I liked James McAvoy in this role. He played each personality perfectly and it was quite humorous at times. Hedwig was probably his most hilarious personality, being a 9 year old boy and so innocent. <SPOILERS> I didn't really like the whole "beast" thing, but it did add to the story some, making it more fearful for the audience. I didn't like that it turned out they were locked in a zoo... not really sure why that was a thing other than the fact that he turned into the beast. I also didn't like that the movie was basically an educational movie on DID and split personalities. Though it was, educational, I was hoping for more or a horror/thriller movie. <END SPOILERS> |
