Starring: George Clooney, Michelle Pfeiffer, Mae Whitman
Run Time: 1 hour, 48 minutes

George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer start in One Fine Day, a movie that was created to be a romantic comedy that follows a single mom and a single dad. One day, Jack’s (Clooney) ex-wife drops their daughter, Maggie, off and asks him to watch her while her and her new husband go on their honeymoon. Because of his job, he is going to have a hard time figuring it out, but he knows that she has to go to school. He has no clue what time school starts, or really even where it is, but they begin walking. At this point, he has forgotten that he was supposed to call Melanie (Pfeiffer) and tell her not to worry about picking Maggie up for school. Because he forgets, Melanie is late dropping her son, Sammy, off at school. The two converge at the front steps of the school, where they have missed the bus for the field trip. The two jump in a cab and head to the ferry dock in hopes to catch the rest of the school  for the field trip.

Well, needless to say they don’t make it, and the two parents have to figure out a way to make it through the day with their children by their sides. At first, they take them to work. This is not a good idea, especially for Melanie since her boss hates children and her son is a mischievous little imp. Since no babysitters can be obtained, the next option is to drop off at the day care. Here, the two parents converge again, but this is also not a good idea because the two kids get bullied and the environment is not good for children (even though it’s a day care). So finally, they devise a plan. Jack will watch the kids until his press conference, and Melanie will watch the kids until he is done with that.

Of course some things go awry along the way as Jack and Melanie both try to keep their jobs all while watching their kids and dealing with each other. Eventually the two fall in love, as this is a romance movie, and the kids start to get along as well.

I didn’t like Sammy’s character. He was just getting into trouble left and right, making it difficult for his mother, and ruining everything that is around him. I liked the ending, where they are in her apartment finally sharing that they have fallen for each other… in just one day.
I am not a big fan of this film. I didn’t find it comical and the children really bothered me the whole time. The story itself isn’t bad, two strangers meeting and having the same predicament only to discover that they are the only ones that can help each other out. The acting was pretty good in this film, Melanie as the over bearing wonder-mom, and Jack as the inexperience father who is trying hard to be good at it. I’m going to give this movie an “okay” rating.

I liked this film, George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer come across as worthy contenders for the screwball comedy honours held for about 50 years by Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn.
The movie itself is a throwback to comedy classics like "Bringing Up Baby" and "His Girl Friday," both made in 1938 with Grant and Hepburn.
The problem lies mostly in the single kids of each single parent, especially Sammy. He seems to spend the film topping himself in being an annoying brat scene after scene. And each time that the kid creates the awful situation that Melanie has to get frustrated at- she then forgives him and says, "Not your fault, honey." -when it totally is his fault.
Further proof that the classics did everything better...
