Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood - Hated It

I'm not going to lie, I was sort of dreading watching this movie and I don't even know why. With an all star cast, you'd think I'd want to see something like this. Well, I can honestly tell you that my dreads were not wrong. I hated this movie, and it wasn't until the end that I realized why... Quentin Tarantino. I can't STAND his movies. Every one I've seen I remember thinking "is it over yet?" and "what is going on now? this makes no sense!" Well, Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood is no exception to these thoughts and opinions.

Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, from what I can tell, has no plot. It basically follows some actors who live in Hollywood during the turn of the 1970s. The thing that really bothered me, is I couldn't tell when all this stuff was happening. I know that some of the scenes started out with a date, but for me I was still confused (I know... how is that even possible?). If I'm guessing correctly, I think the film starts in the end, goes back to the begging, and then ends again? Maybe? Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt stars as Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth - an actor and his stunt double who also happen to be best friends. Margot Robbie is also thrown in there, but I don't quite understand what her purpose in this film is other than to just add a new actress into the mix that has absolutely nothing to do with the other two characters.

Can we talk about the ending for a minute?  What the... what? The ending came out of no where and - I say for the third or forth time - what is the point? Don't get me wrong, this is probably the only part of the entire movie I didn't absolutely hate, but why? For those of you who like movies like this, I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions because I would love to understand you. I'm sorry to anyone reading this, all you "professional movie reviewers" that are just like "this girl is an awful movie reviewer." Yeah, I am, but that's because I judge my movies on how entertaining they are and not how artistic they are. I would much rather watch a terribly acted movie that has exciting scenes than one that artistically put together with wonderful acting. To each his own.

Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood is nominated for the following Academy Awards:
1. Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio)
2. Best Supporting Actor (Brad Pitt)
3. Best Picture
4. Best Director
5. Best Original Screenplay
6. Best Cinematography
7. Best Sound Mixing
8. Best Costume Design
9. Best Production Design
10. Best Sound Editing

I'm sure it will win at least one of these, but I'll have to finish watching ALL the best picture nominated movies to make my guesses. Stay tuned.

I give Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood 2/5 stars. ✩ ✩
