Starring: Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling
Director: Gary Ross Runtime: 1 hour, 50 minutes Action | Comedy | Crime | Thriller | 2018 Back in the day, I watched Oceans 11 or 12 or 13 (not sure which one) and was left utterly confused. The only thing I understood was the fact that they were trying to rob a casino, I honestly don’t even remember if they pulled it off. When I heard that they were making another movie in the Oceans family, this time will women, I was both excited (because of the leading women chosen for the film) and wary because I never quite could wrap my head around the plot of the one I saw so many years ago. This one made sense, or perhaps my brain just grew up a little, when there are only 8 people in the heist family. Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Awkwafina, and Sarah Paulson. The team seemed to have great chemistry on screen and were able to keep the storyline and plot going with ease. I especially liked the “aha” moment and the slight little twist in the end. I thought the film had just enough comedic lines to make it worth the watch and the thrill of the heist was great to watch on screen. I love Sandra Bullock and thought she really played the Ocean character perfectly. I may have to go back and watch the previous Oceans movies to see if I still don’t understand or if I can wrap my head around them now. I have been watching a lot of movies lately and maybe that’s allowed me to think more? I don’t however like to think all that much while watching movies unless it is to guess what’s going to happen next. I absolutely loved all the costumes that the ladies wore to the gala. I’ll give Oceans 8 a “Liked It” rating.. It’s a good film and worth your time. (4/5).
