So I had the pleasure of going to see Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates in a private pre-screening. This movie is about two brothers that are immature and totally irresponsible who are forced to find nice girls to bring to Hawaii for their sister's wedding. It starts with them posting an ad on the internet, and that quickly explodes onto all social media platforms. Two young women, who are similarly immature and irresponsible, see the ad and pretend to be the nice girls that Mike and Dave are looking to bring. Needless to say, once the four all make it to Hawaii for the wedding festivities, everything pretty much hits the fan. This is a pretty standard movie: you have your main characters that are known to mess things up who eventually realize that they need to grow up and change the way they are handling life. The fun thing about this film though is that it is non-stop comedy. You would think that at some points there would be down times, but this is not the case. Even at the lowest, saddest point in the movie, there is still a comical aspect in there somewhere. much the entire movie. At least up until the point where she spills the beans of their hidden agenda. After this, Mike goes off the deep end and you can see how the two brothers are growing apart and wanting to be their own person, despite the fact that their parents have "lumped" them together their entire lives. And of course, they ended the movie with a song-and-dance number; since the majority of the four have been in musicals, why would you not throw that in there? Overall, I really liked this movie. I don't think I can say I have a favorite scene, because they were all pretty great.... but if I had to choose one I would say when Alice and Tatiana are convincing Mike, Dave, the bride, and the groom to go on a Jurassic Park ATV ride rather than swim with the dolphins. Not gonna lie, an ATV ride through where they filmed Jurassic Park would be pretty awesome. I laughed the majority of the movie, and it left me wanting to go on vacation to Hawaii. LIKED IT and would recommend going to see it when it comes to theatres on July 8, 2016.
