The Movie

Me Before You is based on the book of the same name. I can't say that I've read this book, only that I probably won't (even though I own it already) due to me watching this movie already. The movie is about a young woman, Lou (played by Emilia Clarke) who stumbles across this job opening where she entertains, helps, and talks with a quadrapalegic man, Will (played by Sam Claflin). Towards the beginning of their time together, Lou discovers the reason that she has been hired by Will's parents: Will wants to commit suicide, and they are hoping that someone like Lou can change his mind.

As the movie progresses, Lou and Will form a wonderul bond of love and friendship. She takes him on trips, gets him out of the house to enjoy the weather, and more fun things to help him remember what's  good  about  living  life. They  even go  to  his  ex-girlfriends  wedding  who  marries  his  ex-best
what's  good  about  living  life. They even go to his ex-girlfriends wedding who marries  his ex-best friend. That had to be so awkward! With each passing moment and planned event, the two characters would fall more and more in love with each other. Truly understanding each other and what drives them. It's wonderful to watch.

Liked-Its & Hated-Its

I liked the attitude that Lou had throughout the entire movie. She was a happy go lucky young woman who didn't care what people thought of her and was determined to spread happiness wherever she could. I also liked how the two actors played off each other, truly showing the character development that happens in the story line and how each personality is shifted.

I hated the ending. <SPOILER> Like I mentioned before, Lou was pretty much hired to convince Will not to commit suicide. Well, she wasn't able to do so. So all their built up love ended and she was left crying and missing him. So sad. I love happy endings, and this was not one. <END SPOILER>

Rating

This movie was not what I expected. I liked the majority of it, right up until the ending, which is honestly why I'm giving it such a lower rating. I'm giving this movie an "okay"
