Comedy | Horror | Sci-Fi | 2013

Being shark week and all, Sharknado had to be on the list due to it’s sheer absurdity. A hurricane that brings sharks land, water, and air. Who thinks of these things? Well, there are apparently many movies in the Sharknado franchise, and I can see why. The entire movie was one huge comedic experience. Effects so bad that all I could do was laugh. The sharks were obviously computerized. It was a bloody mess, and it was fairly entertaining when you take in the fact that it’s a low budget, poorly made film.

So the entire time I thought Nova was being played by Alexa Vega, not Cassandra Scerbo, and the entire time I just pictured Alexa in the movie The Remaining. I don’t know why, I guess because they are fairly similar with hiding from monsters and all (ok that is really the only thing I can compare it too, The Remaining was about God and the apocalypse). Also, the daughter is played by Aubrey Peeples (from Nashville) and it was hard to like her character because in Nashville she is just a horrible person.

Tara Reid’s character was just annoying all together.

This film was way more exciting than The Reef was, even though that I’d say can be considered a true Shark movie. I loved that every time someone looked out a window, water from nowhere came gushing in bringing sharks. And when a shark died, it was gruesome and obviously fake.

I did like the explosions in the tornadoes, would that actually work? But the ending was just gruesome. Or course I didn’t see that coming. Nice use of the chainsaw I supposed. I’m going to give this film an “okay” rating. It was so far-fetched that it was strangely entertaining, but it was just such a bad movie as well. I feel so confused on what I think about this film, not going to lie. I say you must watch it, for Shark Week that is. (2/5)
