Stars:  Natalie Portman, Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig
Run Time: 1 hour, 40 minutes

Starring Natalie Portman as Jackie, it is brought to screen the time immediately after JFK was murdered in Texas. The film starts out with Jackie talking with a reporter, she wants him to tell her story, but only what she approves. She recants her husbands death and everything that happened after that. Johnson is sworn into office immediately following the shooting and Jackie must plan a funeral, pack up her belongings from the White House, and grieve over her dead husband in such a short time frame. So in love with her husband, she wants to show the world that he was a great man and deserves a great funeral. She proceeds to plan a funeral that was much like President Lincoln's, with a "parade" through the streets of Washington D.C. for all the world to see.

Along with Jackie planning the funeral, we are also shown the time she takes to do a program on the television taking all Americans on a tour of the White House. Jackie spent a lot of money renovating the White House and bringing back history from all other presidents who have lived there.

  • I don't know much about JFK and his wife Jackie, but from what I can tell from this film I would assume they did an amazing job at accurately showing the events of the past.
  • I liked Natalie Portman in her role as Jackie, I thought she was amazing.
  • I liked learning the story about what happened. As I said, I don't know much about JFK, but learning about the repercussions after his death and how it affected the family was interesting.
  • I liked that she planned the funeral based on Lincoln's.
  • I hated how slow the movie progressed along.

Because this film was educational and Natalie Portman was excellent as Jackie, I'm going to give this movie a "Liked It." It was very intense throughout and had a good run time. The scene with the shooting felt so real while watching and Jackie's reaction is all that I would thought it'd be. I could feel her grief through the screen.
