Starring Tom Cruise as the title character, this movie is based off the crime drama book series by Lee Child. The film itself starts off with a mass shooting with random victims across the way. An ex-military man is taken into custody for the murders, but without confessing, he asks for the police to find Jack Reacher. No one knows how to find him - he has been off the grid for awhile - but out of nowhere he walks into the precinct. Jack Reacher is a renowned detective who is always good at figuring out the truth. Alongside the DA (Rosamund Pike) they get to the bottom of whodunnit and why.
There is plenty of action to keep you entertained along the way to the end of the movie. Chase scenes, gunfights, etc. The way Reacher is able to put all the clues together and evade all enforcements after him is perfectly executed by Tom Cruise, as I’m sure is also perfectly executed in the novels as well. Me being a crime drama buff, this movie is right in my wheelhouse. The end scene where he goes back to save the DA is great. I loved how he used the older man to his aid (well.. sorta) and how he just made his way through what I’m sure was a pretty big trap. Overall this movie was very entertaining, and I’d like them to make more (as I know they have, hence this being prequel/sequel week and all) that I’d watch. I recommend this movie if you love crime drama, action, and a good murder mystery. I’ll give it a “Liked It.” (4/5)
