The Movie

Yet another movie and/or book that is a historical fiction taking place during WWII in Nazi Occupied France. Inglourious Basterds follows three different groups of people: you have the Nazi's, the Nazi hunters, and then the Cinema owner. Each one has their own goal. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) is the leader of team of Jewish soldiers that commit violent acts of retribution against the Nazis. He actively searches for Nazi soldiers and shows no mercy on them. The main thing he does before letting them go (if he does so) is asks them if they'll take off their uniform. Because they have to take it off eventually, he carves the Nazi symbol on their forehead so everyone will know no matter what.

Colonel Hans Landa is on the other side of things. He is one of the best Nazi soldiers at finding Jews. The beginning scene is him having a conversation with a man hiding Jews. In the end, he is able to find them and kill them, all but one, Shosanna. This leaves me to the third "group," Shosanna and her friends at the Cinema. Because Landa murdered her whole family,  she  has  vengence  in  her  eyes.  So

when a famed Nazi soldier wants to have his movie's premiere at her theater, she devises a plan to murder a lot of Nazi soldiers.

Eventually, all the different stories evolve together by the end of the film. With Shosanna and the Nazi hunters each having their own plan, the ending is huge.

Liked Its & Hated Its

I hated how this film was mostly all in subtitles. My high school french has definitely failed me! Because of this, I couldn't multi-task like I usually do while watching movies that don't interest me. I had to read the whole thing! Not fun. I also hate the title. Is there a reason it's spelled incorrectly. Stressing me out.

I liked the ending. Explosions. That's about it though.

Rating

Every film I've seen by Quentin Tarantino I have not liked, and this movie is no exception. I felt like it was extremely boring and I just wanted it to be over way before it was actually over. Because the ending wasn't bad (after all the different storylines finally converged) I'm going to give this movie an "okay" rating. I will not be watching this again.
