Starring: Tom Hanks, Felicity Jones, Irrfan Khan
Director: Ron Howard
Runtime: 2 hours, 1 minute
Based on novel by Dan Brown: Inferno
Action | Adventure | Crime | Book-to-Film | 2016

The book series by Dan Brown involving Robert Langdon is one of my favorites. Full of suspense, crime solving, and adventure, all the ones I’ve read so far are page turners for me: The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, The Lost Symbol. Inferno is just as adventurous movie-wise as The Da Vinci Code (I can’t remember if I’ve seen Angels and Demons yet or not). All the history brought forth by Hanks’ character Robert Langdon and how the character is able to solve riddles and clues is just exciting to me. Especially when they are running around Europe like it’s the Amazing Race or something.

Now, I’ve only read a portion of Inferno, so I can’t say whether it’s a good adaptation or not. From what I have read (probably a third or less) it stuck well with it. There is a man who truly believes that unleashing a deadly virus on the world with fix the ever growing population and ultimately save the Earth so humans don’t kill themselves. Robert Langdon and the WHO are trying to track down where he hid the virus and stop it was releasing. This is another thing I love about these stories, there’s always a science fiction portion of it. This is the first one though that doesn’t have much of a religious theme, unlike The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, and The Lost Symbol.

I thought the actors did well in their roles. I have never seen Tom Hanks do a bad job, and Felicity Jones was great in her role. Totally didn’t see that surprise twist coming (see, I should have finished reading the novel!). The suspense was great throughout the entire movie, not knowing who is for and who is against the virus being released, and then finally coming to the perfect ending.

If you are a fan of The Da Vinci code movie, or any of the suspenseful and adventure books that Dan Brown writes, I definitely recommend this film. I would have to say it’s a tad more violent that previous films, but it’s been awhile since I’ve seen it so I could be wrong. I say “loved it” on this one. It both fun and nerve-wracking waiting to see the final outcome.

Inferno is one of the best movies I have ever seen! Everything is just so brilliant. I still remember how beautiful Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code is! Tom Hanks is such a great actor. He was able to pull off his character without any hesitations at all. Felicity Jones is also amazing, but I would prefer another female lead sometime. It would be more convincing had it been another actress because I feel like the role is not suited for Felicity Jones.
