I’m surprised that this is the first time I’ve watched Inception. I think it’s because everyone told me that it was confusing and a big thinker - well I don’t like to think too much in movies, but I also enjoy it especially when the ending ties everything together. If I’m left wondering, then we have a problem. And Inception did not disappoint. I’m sure most of you readers have seen or heard of this movie, but I’ll go into my normal description of the movie just in case. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Dom and Joseph Gordon Levitt as Arthur, the two are able to subconsciously enter into people’s dreams by way of this device that they have. The purpose you ask? To figure out secrets that only someone’s brain will know. Now, I can see why everyone I’ve ever talked to about this movie finds it confusing. It’s because you don’t know if the character is in a dream or not. Is this real life? Is it not? Supposedly that is why Dom and Arthur carry around an object that reminds them/tells them if they are in a dream. I did not find it that confusing. They went in someone’s dream, then in a dream in a dream, then in a dream in a dream in a dream, because they wanted to plant an idea in someone’s subconscious brain. Because I’m talking about sleeping and dreaming here, I wanted to share with you some very strange dreams that I’ve had. I had a dream once (and I’m pretty sure it was right after I watched War Dogs - a review to come soon) that I was walking around a Muslim mosque. It was beautiful yes, but my scarf kept falling off my head, and I was terrified that the people in there were going to kill me… so it turned into a “spy” like dream where I was creeping around trying not to be seen. And then I woke up. Another dream I had once, my friends and I were all at six flags and it was a scavenger hunt. I had to go down a slip-in-slide slide and then the team all met up in a forgotten about cabin. Well the opposing team found us and were trying to cheat. And then I woke up. I didn’t say my dreams would be long or exciting, but this is all I can remember. I’m sure there were more too them. The dreams in Inception were really interesting and strange and it reminded me of how a lot of my dreams are. The thing I like most is how the dreams can change randomly. Like when Ariadne (Ellen Page) changed all the dreams and turned the movie into Dr. Strange (another review to come soon). I also liked how the last dreamer had security guards for his dreams and the fact that everyone was “looking” for the intruders. It’s interesting to me. Overall, I really enjoyed this movie. It was full of action, creativity, and things that made you think. I can’t decide if I liked the ending or not. <SPOILER> On one hand, Dom was stuck forever, but on the other hand he was with his wife and children. So it was both a sad and happy ending. <END> I am going to give this movie a “Loved It” rating. I would recommend it if you have not already seen it and I would definitely watch it again.
