How to Be Single is based on the book of the same title. The movie stars Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson and follows the too through their newfound friendship. Dakota's character, Alice, has just broken up with her boyfriend in hopes to "discover who she is." I'm sorry... but that's a dumb excuse. Okay anyway, so her and Robin (Rebel Wilson) go out all the time and get drunk and meet random guys. Simultaneously, we are watching Alice's sister, Meg (Leslie Mann) and Lucy (Alison Brie) on their day to day lives.
Meg has decided that she doesn't need a man, and takes her life in her own hands by trying in-vitro fertilization for a baby. Predictably, she meets someone that she eventually falls in love with, and they have to share that drama with each other. Lucy spends her time in the bar hanging with the bartender until she finally finds the love of her life. Okay, back to Alice and Robin since they are the main characters of this film. Alice is in and our of relationships and Robin just continues to party and hook up. SPOILER ALERT, Alice never ends up with anyone by the end of the movie. She just hops boyfriend to boyfriend and only hangs out with Robin when she is single - it's like she doesn't know how to be single. Hence the title. BuDumShish.
This movie has it's fair share of comedy, I mean Rebel Wilson is in it so how could it not be funny? However, this movie was just okay. I didn't really like it and probably wouldn't watch it again.
