Starring: Toni Collette, Milly Shapiro, Gabriel Byrne, Alex Wolff
Director: Ari Aster Runtime: 2 hours, 7 minutes Drama | Horror | Suspense | 2018 I'll start off by saying that my HDMI didn't work (and still doesn't) when I started watching this movie. At first, it would just beep annoyingly at me or turn to snow every few minutes. Yes it was annoying, but I was so warm under the blanket on the couch that I just watched the majority of the movie like that. Ultimately, the HDMI stopped working all together - after I had already made it through 3/4ths of the movie too. Alas, I had to turn it off - not sad at this point - and eventually watch the rest. Well, it took me a good week to move the Blu Ray player to another TV and finish watching this dumb movie. At first, the film wasn't bad. And what I had in my head as to what the plot line would consist of, sounded like a good movie. But, being an A24 movie, nothing I wanted to happen, happened, and I was left feeling like I wasted my time with this one. SPOILERS I really wanted the "hereditary" thing to be psychosis among the family. Like Annie's mother was psycho, therefore she is going psycho, and her son is also going psycho. I don't even really understand the film itself. I somewhat do, yes, but what is with all the "ghostlike" things happening? I just don't understand, especially if they are the same freaking soul or whatever. I was fine with the movie until it turned into a god worship with naked people in a tree house. END SPOILERS The film wasn't fun to watch and the plot line just didn't make any sense, like a typical A24 film. This will be the last A24 film I ever watch. If David wants to continue watching more, he is on his own. I'm done wasting my time with movies like this. Hated It. (0/5).
