Starring: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson
Director: Justin Lin
Runtime: 2 hours, 10 minutes
Action | Crime | Thriller | 2013

The sixth movie in the franchise throws an extremely large curve ball. Hobbs (Johnson) finds Dom at home and gives him so pictures, in hopes that he and his team will help nab a bad guy. What did those pictures show you ask? Letty. She’s alive. Due to this, Dom pulls the team together again and they all meet up to help Hobbs catch Shaw.

The catch? Letty is working for Shaw and has no memory of what her life was like before she was almost killed by Reyes’ man. So the movie is very action packed, as they end up fighting Shaw and Letty physically for multiple parts in the film. There isn’t much racing going on these days in the Fast & Furious world, I feel like the franchise has transitioned more into a crime drama, which I’m okay with. I love myself some good crime drama.

So far the fifth one is my favorite. This one is good but not amazing like the others I have given a loved it rating. I enjoyed the neat little car contraption Shaw’s people drive, that are able to flip cars. One thing I noticed is that a lot of the action/chase scenes are extremely drawn out. Like the ending scene with the plane: yes it was pretty awesome that they were on a plane and there were explosions, but it had to have lasted like a full 15 minutes of the movie. It was never ending!

Due to Letty’s amnesia, that part of the story had a The Vow feeling to it. Dom needing to make her fall in love with him again and come back to their family. It was cute, in a strange ex-convict and street racing kind of way.

Overall, this movie was good. I’m not so sure what the point of the last scene in Tokyo was, who does this franchise think they are? Star Wars? Going out of order like that just to mess with people’s brains. I’ll be interested to see what happens in the next film. I’ll give this film a “Liked It” rating. (4/5)
