Eddie the Eagle - Loved It

Eddie the Eagle is the true story of Eddie Edwards, who always has had a dream of being an Olympian. From the time he was a little boy to the time he was a young adult. His mother always supported his dream, even though he was not good at pretty much everything he tried. His father on the other hand, was not so supportive. That didn't stop Eddie from chasing his dream though. He tried many events in track and field until it finally ended up at skiing. He made it all the way to almost making it on the Olympic Ski team, until he was rudely told he would not be chosen for the team. He was about to give up until he discovered the event of Ski Jumping. Ski jumping is a very dangerous sport where, you guessed it, you jump off a ramp with skis on.

Eddie travels in Germany to learn and honed the skill of Ski jumping. Here he meets many other ski jumpers (many of whom have been doing this their entire lives), Bronson Peary (a former US ski jumper played by Hugh Jackman), and Petra (the lady that owns the bar). Through persistence and

determination he recruits Bronson to be his coach and he is able to do everything that the British Olympic Board asks of him. Finally, he fulfills his dream of being an Olympian, though the Olympic Board explicitly did not want him there.

Unfortunately, he becomes a laughing stock because he comes in last place at the event. Eddie doesn't care that much though. He is just happy to be competing, but it starts to takes it toll on him. He decides that he is going to make the 90 meter jump. One that he has never done before, and that people die from all the time (the one he mastered is the 70 meter jump - to give you an idea of the difference). He doesn't even do a practice jump, he just goes out and does it. I don't think I would be able to do that. Kudos to him on his bravery.

Overall, I really enjoyed this movie. It was funny, inspiring, and I found myself rooting for Eddie the entire time. I would definitely recommend this movie.
