Don't Breathe - Liked It

Don't Breathe focuses on three people that make their living by robbing houses. When they finally decide that they don't want to do it anymore, they plan to go out with a bang by robbing a man who is said to have a million dollars in his house. There's one thing though, he is blind. With that being said, the three assume that this will be an easy job. Get in the house, find the money, and leave. All they have to do is be extremely quiet so the old man doesn't wake up. Well, if that happened, there wouldn't be a movie now would it?

Needless to say, the old man wakes up and begins to terrorize the three friends that have broken into his house. Though he is blind, he has many capabilities that give him the upper hand. Every single door and window is locked, and he has extremely acute hearing. So the title Don't Breathe sums is all up, if you breathe, he will hear you and he will kill you.

The movie is a thrilling one from start to finish. It's pretty predictable in the sense of a horror movie - you know who will live and who will die. But there are many twists in the storyline that totally took me by surprise.

When they get to the basement, they are so so close to escaping, but BAM there's a girl tied up down there! This blind man has been holding someone captive! Totally caught me by surprise. The second thing that caught me by surprise is when the girl is caught, he ties her up just like the other girl. The thing that caught me by surprise though is the reason he does this... he wants a child so he plans to impregnate her. It's pretty disgusting because he plans to do it with a turkey baster. *GASP*

The last thing that took me by surprise is that the dog never died. He was an evil dog that kept coming back throughout the movie trying to kill the intruders (I know.. it was his job.. but I still saw him as evil). I think this is why I was so surprised that they never actually killed the dog. Just trapped him in multiple points in the movie - that scene at the car had me on the edge of my seat! Same thing with the Blind Man - why didn't they just kill him?

I thought that the acting wasn't too terrible in this film. The star of the show would have to be The Blind Man (played by Stephen Lang). Rocky and Alex do pretty well too. I found myself
rooting for them to escape even though they are the ones breaking and entering into this man's home.

Overall I liked the story-line of this film. It kept me entertained and on the edge of my seat. Though I wouldn't classify this as a horror film, it was definitely a thriller that made you cringe and jump a few times.  One thing I didn't care for was the fact that I felt like it just kept going and going. They'd almost escape and then he would find them, and it would happen over and over again. At some point you just gotta end it! I'm going to give this a "Liked It," and I definitely would recommend it!

Interesting I wasn't too fond of the first one. What's it like in comparison to that one?

Shannon, I honestly couldn't tell you; I've never seen the first one.
