Doctor Strange - Loved It

Another Marvel movie can be checked off the books. Doctor Strange is about a brillant doctor (Benedict Cumberbatch) who is a little full of himself most of the time. When a horrible accident leaves his hands borderline useless, he travels across the world to find help that the medical world can't give him. While in Nepal, he meets the Sorcerer Supreme and begins his journey in learning how to channel unknown energies like all the students learning under her. Being a Marvel movie, of course he becomes a hero who must save the world by then end of the film. This movie is a bit different though. With superhero's like the Avengers saving the real world from troubles, Doctor Strange has to save the other "realms" of the world that the people of Earth don't even know exist. Pretty interesting.

This movie was definitely a strange one when speaking about the effects. I felt like I was watching it through a kaliedascope the entire time - which was actually pretty neat (and it didn't even make me nauseous!). A lot of the time they are in the "glass realm" where apparently anything that happens in it won't actually happen to the real world. This is where we find ourselves watching the characters run
and jump and fight all while roads and building are turned upsides down and sideways. Like there is no gravity. The weapons that are "made with energy" are cool looking. They look like sparks or embers to me.

I liked the effects in this movie. As I mentioned before they were way different than I've seen in other movies. I liked Rachel McAdams in this - her character was definitely my favorite - and I liked how this movie was actually pretty funny. I found myself laughing throughout the entire film. I liked the cloak of levitation (yet another part that was funny, and the cloak doesn't even talk!). I liked the scenes that included Wong, I liked the scenes where he was astroprojecting, I even liked the climax when he goes into the dark realm and messes with time to vanquish the evil entity Dormammu. My favorite part was at the end when Wong finally laughs.

I'm going to give this movie a "Loved It." There were just so many things about it that I found myself intrigued by and it was an exciting, fun, and action packed movie to watch. I'm definitely looking forward to Thor: Ragnorak even more now. (I actually remembered to stay and watch the extra scene!) I definitely would recommend watching this movie, especially if you're an action movie lover like I am.
