Starring: Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman, Bonnie Bedelia, Reginald VelJohnson
Director: John McTiernan Runtime: 2 hours, 12 minutes Action | Thriller | 1988 So I watched this movie and Blade Runner in the same day. This movie was so much more exciting and actually fun to watch. Bruce Willis plays John McClane, a cop who gets stuck in an office building that has been seized by terrorists. One of whom is played by Alan Rickman, so that was fun to see him in something other than Harry Potter (rest in peace). The film is full of gun fighting, fist fighting, and just overall explosions. My type of movie. Being an 80s movies, they sure aren’t epic like some of the ones we see in today’s movies, but awesome nonetheless. McClane outwits the bad guys each times and it’s fun to watch the cat and mouse game he plays with them. I also enjoyed the relationship that happens between McClane and the LAPD cop played by Reginald VelJohnson. Their radio talk throughout the movie is comedic at points and really aids in moving the plot forward. And the fact that his ex-wife is a hostage really adds to the fuel of McClane’s power trip. In the end I liked this movie and can see how it sparred a franchise, although I’m not sure I would keep watching. I’d have to think about it. Well, it seems that my reviews are getting shorter but that’s okay right? I’m getting less and less free time so at least it’s something. (4/5)
