There’s not a whole lot despicable about Despicable Me 2. Gru has been brought in on a top secret mission to save the world from a vaccine (or potion, whichever word you like) that turns animals into crazy, man-eating monsters. I would have to say, however, that this particular movie focuses more on Gru’s love for the three girls and his growing love for his new spy-partner Lucy (voiced by Kristen Wiig).

The first Despicable Me film was cute, and the minions were the perfect balance between evil and funny for the kids I’m sure. But I feel like the minions have way too much screen time in this film. The story is way to focused on the minions here. And I get it, after the first movie’s release it was a whirlwind of fame for the small yellow and hilarious creatures that followed Gru around, but this was just too much for me.
The animation was the same as the first, good I would say, a lot better than some other movie’s I’ve seen for this website *cough cough* Storks. But again, it’s nothing special like The Good Dinosaur.

The far fetched way the bad guy was going to get rid of Lucy and Gru was good for children I think, but a little too far over the top for my liking. Let’s not get into Sharknado people.

I’m going to give this second movie in the trilogy an “okay” rating. I would have liked to see more despicable things happen from Gru. There was really only one scene where he did anything close to that and it wasn’t even a funny part. Just didn’t work for me as well as the original. (2.5/5).

I definitely agree with the score you gave this movie. Despicable me 2 is not a very unforgettable film. I don't even remember the details about the main villain of this movie. I didn't hate it, however, it just didn't leave any mark for me. Unlike the first film, I was really interested about the world building of their universe. On the other hand, I would still love to watch more from their series.
