Starring (voices): Jay Baruchel, Cate Blanchett, Gerard Butler Director: Dead DeBlois Runtime: 1 hour, 42 minutes Categories: Animation, Action, Family At first, I had no clue how they would even begin to make another How to Train Your Dragon movie. Yes, I loved the first one, but how many times can one train a dragon? Well, I see now. Hiccup and Astrid (voiced by America Ferrera) are flying around when they come across a group of people that are stealing dragons. They discover that there is a bad man, Drago (voiced by Djimon Hounsou) that is gathering all the dragons for his dragon army so he can rule all the lands. Soon we are introduced to not one, but two backstories. Drago used to be a friend of Stoick (voiced by Gerard Butler). He was angry at the people when they refused to listen to him and be nice to the dragons, for they are good creatures not knowing what they are doing, so he burned the village and the attack had the outcome of Stoick losing his wife, Hiccup’s mother. Which leads me to my next backstory. Hiccup comes across an island, and island FULL OF DRAGONS. They are good dragons, all being controlled by a good alpha dragon. Who does he find? A woman. That’s all I’ll say, even though I’m sure I’ve already spoiled it for you. Eventually Drago finds the island of dragons and attempts to take over. Thus, the second half of the movie is an epic dragon fight with Hiccup and his friends trying to overcome the brainpower of another alpha dragon. This movie was good, not as good as the first, but good. There were some parts that were really sad, why does there always have to be a sad part? I mean, this is a kids movie for goodness sake. That is probably the reason why I didn’t like it as much as the first. Did I hear they were making yet another one? My goodness, what will they do next? I’ll give this movie a “Liked It.” It still had plenty of moments that were quite humorous and the storyline wasn’t bad for a sequel. The love that the dragons had for the humans was strong in this movie, perfect outcome of the first by far. Man’s best friend in the viking world is a dragon I guess. (4/5) You may also like…
