 Stars: Audrey Hepburn, George Peppard
Director: Blake Edwards
Runtime: 1 hour, 55 minutes
Based on novel by Truman Capote
Comedy | Romance | Drama | Book-to-Film | 1961

Breakfast at Tiffany's starring Audrey Hepburn, starts out with Holly (Audrey) eating her breakfast outside of Tiffany's in New York City. Holly is the type of girl that stays up all night and sleeps in really late. So when her new neighbor rings her bell for help to be let into the building, she hasn't slept very long and she is still in her "jammies." This is her first encounter with her new neighbor, Paul (George Peppard).

As the movie progresses we see who Holly really is: she is a party animal who is living life on the edge, making little money, and letting it go a long way somehow. Her goal in life is to find a rich man and marry him, regardless of love. So when Paul, a man who sells his body for money, walks into her life, a lot of things change. They grow together and become great friends who later fall in love with each other. One day, they spend the day doing things that at least one of them have never done before, thus allowing for the change of love between the two of them. We find out that Holly was once married and that her brother is off in war.

Holly's has a personality that is definitely one to keep up with. She is all over the place, but seems to enjoy life regardless of having no money and no job.

I both liked and hated Holly's personality. On one hand she is carefree, happy, and adventurous. On the other hand, she confined to herself and not capable of letting anyone in. I liked the party scene at her apartment. The drunk woman emoting in the mirror was the highlight for sure.

I didn't like that they weren't really in Tiffany's hardly at all in this film. Yes, she started outside of the store in the beginning, and they went there on the day of firsts, but that is pretty much it.
This movie was not what I expected it to be, especially for what I thought Audrey Hepburn was like. I thought Holly would be a rich socialite who was the prime shopper at Tiffany's and owned all the wonderful things from there. Completely the opposite, which isn't a bad thing, just totally caught me off guard. I'm going to give this film an "okay" rating. I really didn't care for it too much and thought it was fairly boring. Most parts weren't that bad, but I wouldn't want to watch it again. This film is based off a book of the same name, I wonder how close they stayed to that? (3/5)
