I know I've seen this movie before in the past, but I didn't realize how much I didn't remember about it. Edward Scissorhands is both a strange and entertaining movie. Johnny Depp is great in this one, plays the role perfectly (as he typically does in all films). The story itself is about a man with scissorhands, and there's not much more to this. One day he goes home with a very nice, Avon selling woman who makes him part of the family. As the film progresses things get more and more hectic for the poor, strange man.
As far as this movie being a Christmas movie, heck yes it is! I love the part of the story where it only snows after he makes himself a part of that family and neighborhood. The ice carving, the bush trimming, the hair trimming - all fun ways to use scissorhands I'm sure. Very creative by the director and screenwriter.
I'm not sure that this movie would be on my "movies I watch over and over again" list, but I definitely liked this one. Thought it was entertaining and witty. Even the slow burning romance was fun to watch blossom as the movie went, oh Winona Ryder, when is that next season of Stranger Things going to come? Sorry, off topic there. I give this one a "Liked It" (4/5).
Absolutely loving this "movies you didn't know were Christmas movies" marathon for December 2020 - way to end a year like this!
