Starring: Hailee Steinfeld, Jorge Lendeborg Jr, John Cena
Runtime: 1 hour, 54 minutes Genres: Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi 2018 When I was little, I was obsessed with the VW bug. Was that typical for all girls? I wouldn't doubt it. I personally though, have always loved the older model bug. The one that starred in Herbie, which was a family favorite growing up. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but at the beginning of the Transformers saga, Bumblebee was NOT a VW bug right? Am I remembering this wrong? He was a camero? Gosh, it's been so long since I've watched Shia LaBeouf speed around with his car buddies. Maybe I'll go back at re-watch those, because why not? At some point though, most movie series need to end. Transformers was one of them, especially after Fox and LaBeouf left. But for some reason, here we are with the film Bumblebee. Now, it's mostly an origin story so at least it's not part of the other series, and I do love Hailee Steinfeld. I actually enjoyed this movie (unlike the last two transformers movies). However, I'm pretty sure it's only because this all takes place in the 80s, therefore the soundtrack to this film is bomb - I am a huge fan of 80s music - it's a little sad to think I wasn't even around in the 80s. Alas, I am getting off topic. This film pulls in features from the other films nicely, as to tie into them but still keep distant. I thought the relationship between Steinfeld and Lendeborg was good. John Cena was fine in his role, but am I the only one that feels like he's trying to be like The Rock? Ain't happening man, keep stepping, but still he wasn't bad either. I'm going to have to give this movie a "liked it" because it was full of action, fun, explosions, and 80s music. (4/5).
