Four friends are reunited once again for a trip to New Orleans for the Essence Festival. Here they rekindled their sisterhood and friendship while letting their wild sides loose for a weekend of fun, dancing, and romancing. Ryan (Regina Hall) is going through a hard time and needs her girls, Lisa (Jada Pinkett Smith) is a single mom needing some time for herself (even though she doesn’t want it), Sasha (Queen Latifah) is down on her luck, and Dina (Tiffany Haddish) is the happy go lucky girl that brings all the laughs. As they embark on their trip this film is bound to have many opportunities to make you laugh.

Before watching this film, I was comparing it to Rough Night, a film I reviewed not too long ago. It has it’s similarities, mainly the back bone story - friends coming together after a while to party for a weekend, they have a huge fight, then make up and their friendship is stronger than ever - but that is really where their similarities end. I found this film to actually be funny. I loved the personalities of each character and how they bonded together as the “Flossy Posse” as they call themselves. Together they get into many shenanigans in New Orleans as they drink, party, and make an enemy along the way.

My favorite scene is the dance off at the bar. I love a good dance off scene. The scenes with them trippin in the club are fun too. Elizabeth (Kate Walsh) is Ryan’s publicist/manager, her character brings many humorous scenes as well, as she attempts to say things that Ryan says she shouldn’t be saying. Lisa was my favorite character, the others needed to pull her out of the shell. Overall, it’s a good movie that will make you laugh… if you’re a girl I’d think. Definitely a chick flick. The ending was expected, but still perfect for the story. I’ll give it a “Liked It.” (4/5)
