Just like the first film, this sequel is full of immature jokes, R-rated language, and a lot of violence. But that’s what Deadpool is all about right? Why would they stray from the first film at all? I mean, it was a good film and very entertaining. Plus is pulls the fans away from the seriousness of the other Marvel movies that have been coming out recently… still haven’t see Black Panther or Infinity War. Patience my readers.
For this film, it starts out with him trying to kill himself. Which the viewers learn why immediately after that. Basically, Deadpool makes friends and ends up with a family of his own. He tries to start X-Force (which I’m pretty sure is an actual comic thing?) and the ends up in tragedy… comedic tragedy though so it’s okay right?
The fight scenes were typical of this type of film, but also epic enough to be exciting. I did however like the story and plot of this one. The first movie was just about his revenge, this one is actually about helping happy endings happen. Kind of like that X-Men movie (Days of Future Past I think).
I liked the introduction of the new characters. Josh Brolin plays Cable, Julian Dennison (remember him from Hunt for the Wilderpeople? Well he plays the exact same teenage boy) plays Firefist, and then there’s Domino played by Zazi Beetz. I liked her character and the fact that her super power was “luck” really added to the comedic aspects of the fight scenes. Along with the new characters we still have Dopinder, Blind Al, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and the big silver guy (sorry I don’t remember his name).
The one thing I didn’t like about the film is the few times that we see him with Vanessa throughout the movie. I get the point, but didn’t really like it. I also liked the one scene in the mansion with the cameo’s from the other x-men characters. That was funny.
I’ll give this film a “Liked It” rating. Not as good as the first, but still worth the watch especially if you like Marvel movies.
