In January 2018 I went to see the movie Split. I knew what it was about, but I had never heard of this movie Unbreakable until the end scene that cameos Bruce Willis and sets up for the movie Glass that came out this year. I didn’t like Split all that much, but I still wanted to see this Unbreakable movie and I’m so glad I did. This movie I can tell really sets up for the trilogy that M. Night Shyamalan is planning (or I guess I should say has executed). It’s about a man who has never been sick or hurt in his life. He is the sole survivor of a train crash and didn’t have a broken bone in his body. This comes to the attention of Mr. Glass (Samuel L Jackson) and the two become somewhat friends as David figures out who he really is.

This film is dubbed as a “non-traditional superhero film” and I can see why it is. It clearly is about comic books for Mr. Glass and finding who his is and who is counterpart is. The villain and the hero. I’m actually pretty excited to see Glass when it finally makes its way to DVD to see how this movie and Split converge into one.

The only thing I didn’t like much about this film was that it was a pretty slow moving film. Not much happens until the end and they don’t even show us Mr. Glass ending up in prison. I also was a little weirded out about the way David’s son was, like how attached and annoying he was, is that bad? Are sons really like that with their dad’s? I mean, I felt like he was a little too obsessed but that’s just my opinion.

I’m going to give this movie a ‘liked it.’ It was well thought out for a non traditional superhero movie and I would watch it again. I liked Bruce and Samuel in co-starring roles and the acting was great. I would have liked some more action, but you know me always loving those action scenes. (3.5/5).
