The newest version of Alice in Wonderland is definitely unique. Starring Mia Wasikowska as Alice and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, this film is full of strangeness. Would you expect anything less from a Tim Burton film though? Alice goes back to "wonderland" some years later after the first time when she was a child. This time, her destiny is to vanquish the red queen and stop her reign of terror that she has put upon the land. We see all the normal characters from the original Alice in Wonderland movie: the white rabbit, the dormouse, the mad hatter, queen of hearts, the Cheshire cat, and the caterpillar. With the help of the Mad Hatter, she faces many challenges on her quest. Like I mentioned before, this film is full of strangeness. The red queen has a huge head, the mad hatter has huge green eyes, and even the white queen is strange in the way that she prevents herself. It is fitting though, because the book by Lewis Carroll is strange itself. If you haven't read it I would recommend that you do. It's a children's book, so it makes sense that its fun and abnormal at times. Overall, I liked this movie and am excited to see Alice Through the Looking Glass.
