Grandma's Red Velvet Cake

I would have to say that baking is my favorite for the most part. It's fairly easy, as long as you follow the recipe it always turns out perfectly. Because most people make cream cheese frosting to go with red velvet cake, I have never eaten it before. So was pretty excited to make it myself for the opportunity to try it. It was delicious. I don't think I used as much red coloring as the recipe calls for, but I think it still turned out pretty red. Honestly, I'm not sure why everyone raves about red velvet cake. Yes, it was good, but I  didn't  really  taste  that  big  of  a
difference between this and a regular cake. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume it's because of the cream cheese frosting that is usually associated with this type of cake. Regardless of having normal icing, this cake was good and I would give it a thumbs up.

Jersey Style Hot Dogs

When I first read this recipe I was like "potatoes on hot dogs?" And yes, it still sounds really strange to me, but it was very good! I changed the recipe up a little bit to make it easier on myself to prepare and probably cheaper at the store. I bought a can of sliced potatoes, drained them, and heated them up in the microwave. Tossed them with minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Then just added them along with the red peppers on top of the hot dogs (which I too cooked in the microwave). The end result was
really good, and I'm looking forward to using the leftover potatoes and peppers to put on top of the rest of the hot dogs in the package. Would recommend this, and if I ever go to New Jersey, I'll be sure to find a place that makes these kind of hot dogs, I'm sure they are way better there than from my kitchen. Thumbs up on this recipe!

Amish Sugar Cookies

I decided last night that I wanted to whip up some cookies, it had been awhile since the last time and I just love cookies. This recipe is the first cookie recipe in the cookbook so I chose this one! The recipe itself was a fairly simple one, most cookie recipes are. It did take a LOT of flour though, thought that was a bit strange. But hey, I've never made sugar cookies from scratch before. Since the directions told me to drop "by the teaspoonful" I literally got out my teaspoon and used that as my cookie size for baking.
doing this made a ton of cookies, thank goodness I have my trusty co-workers around to help me eat them. I thought they turned out good, I wouldn't say they are my favorite thing ever though. Still tasty enough when you want a cookie fix! I'll still give you a thumbs up Amish Sugar Cookies.
