Sandwich Sandwich Sandwich

So, I bought a loaf of bread. This is a lesson on how not to waste a loaf of bread. Make a bunch of different sandwiches.

First, the recipe had me buy cabbage, and I was a little wary due to this. I don’t like cabbage. Then, it had be toss the cabbage in vinegar, I’m assuming this is what coleslaw is? I don’t like coleslaw either. So starting off, I wasn’t excited for this recipe. I like the idea of baking the meat and cheese in the oven, and when I put it, the coleslaw, waffle fries. and the tomato on toasted bread. The outcome was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed this sandwich (I’m actually not a big sandwich fan). The meat I bought was great - not worth the wait at Schnucks - why do all you people  go  shopping  on  a  Sunday?  I’ll  never go
back there. Anyway, the coleslaw I couldn’t really taste when it was on the sandwich. I tried to eat it by itself the next day and couldn’t do it. I don’t eat fries too often, so it was a nice change to have these with the sandwich - and on it! Thumbs up on this recipe - make it!

Oh the memories of the summer after my 21st birthday. Before I started drinking beer, it was cranberry and vodka, all night. This drink was no exception to what I remembered from 6 (yikes!) years ago. Unfortunately, I ran out of vodka and could only make the two drinks shown *insert sad face* but as soon as I can get some more, I’ll probably make it again. It’s a nice change every once in awhile. Thumbs up - make it!

Coke Cake

Coke Cake

I like Coke and I like cake, so it’s only fitting that I baked something called a Coke Cake. Honestly, never heard of it. It actually contains coke (well diet, because that is what I had in my house). The recipe itself was fairly easy - I loved that I didn’t have to melt chocolate - that’s the worst. And it was fun boiling diet coke! I didn’t have a 13x9 cake pan, so I just used a round one and it seemed to work out just fine. I think the marshmallows really allow the cake batter to have a great consistency while it’s baking. Sorry to say I did not make my own icing (and I never will   sorry  folks)  but  the  dark  chocolate  Betty
Crocker icing was delicious on the cake. And topped with chopped pecans, yum! I can definitely see myself baking this kind of cake again. Thumbs up - make it!

Okay, so this technically isn’t a Sandwich, but since I had bread already I made it into one. I followed the recipe for the filling somewhat closely, I ended up halving it and adding some chopped onion. When that was mixed, I toasted some Italian bread and put some provolone cheese on there, add the mixture and turned it into a Lobster Salad Sandwich. What should it matter if it’s on a roll or regular bread? It doesn’t. This was a lot better that I expected. I have never had lobster before, even imitation lobster that I purchased, so I was a little scared about it hoping it wouldn’t be too fishy tasting. But it was
delicious! Honestly, I think it was the onions, but I’m sure it’s just the recipe in general. Thumbs up - Make it!

Okay. So I am really bad at halving recipes. I halved the beef, onion, and pepper, but I didn’t half the sauce. So this had a strange proportion to me because of this mistake and it was ten times as messy as it should have been - this is basically a sloppy joe. Even with halving the onion and peppers, it still wasn’t the best proportions. There were way too many onions (and this is coming from the girl that puts onions on everything!). I’m glad that I was trying to half it, because my skillet would NOT have been big enough if I put 2 lbs of beef, 5 peppers, and 4 large onions into it (perhaps that is why it says to
use a dutch oven? I don’t even know what that is). Another thing - it has to simmer for an HOUR and it was kind of scary… it keep bubbling up like I was a witch making so sort of potion. If I would have had the proportions correct according to the recipe, I’m not sure if it would have turned out better or worse. I’m going to give this a thumbs to the side because it wasn’t horrible and I would try to make it again but with the amount of ingredients that make more sense to me than anyone else.
