Cooking Mishaps

Italian Sausage Bean Soup

Here we go again with me attempting to half a recipe and somewhat being successful. I chose this recipe because I had sausage leftover from the pumpkin pasta I made. I halved everything except the tomatoes, which didn't really affect the outcome at all thankfully. After a long boil and simmer combo, the soup was finally done and it tasted good. I added thyme on accident but that too didn't affect it, I'm assuming anyway. Other than that this soup was good and easy and perfect for a rainy Saturday dinner. Thumbs up on this recipe! Pumpkin Dinner Rolls

Cooking mishap #1. Not sure what happened here. As you can tell from the picture, they don't really look like rolls. That's because the dough I made didn't rise at all. I don't know if it's because of A) my kneading capabilities B) the yeast was bad C) it wasn't warm enough or D) I didn't half the pumpkin. Could be any of those things or none of them. I will not open an investigation for it. I'm sure they would have been good too. I need a bread maker, anyone know where I could find one for not a lot of dough (see what I did there?). Probably a thumbs up on this recipe. Click on the title for recipe and attempt to make it, let me know how it goes.

Coffee Milk

This is exactly how it sounds. Milk with coffee flavoring. Cooking mishap #2. I looked at the recipe online and didn't read it well. The book tells you to specifically make the syrup rather than purchase it like the one online says (it also tells you how to make the coffee flavor yourself, but I totally missed that part). So I bought coffee flavor and put it in my milk. It was yummy. I used Prairie Farms milk. For some reason it doesn't taste as good with this off brand milk that my work sells in the cafeteria. So if you'd like to do this for yourself, click on the title for recipe and get yourself some Prairie Farms milk. Thumbs up from me.

Snickerdoodles

Cooking mishap #3. I burnt half of the batch. Now, if you know me, you know I'm a pro at baking cookies. This was not one of my good days. Half of the batch were so black on the bottom they weren't salvageable, I've never burnt cookies that bad. Perhaps I can blame the time frame on the recipe? Or perhaps it was just me. We were able to eat the tops of those, so it wasn't a complete waste. The ones that came out perfect were perfect, I made 8 perfect cookies. Thumbs up still, click on the title for the recipe and make it! But don't burn it like I did.
