A Shrimp-tastic Weekend

Spicy Sesame Shrimp and Noodle Salad

Ahh a stir fry recipe. The perfect choice since I still had some shrimp leftover from those atrocious shrimp lasagna roll ups. I already had some spaghetti as well, because we don’t know how to check before buying some and that place in the pantry just keeps stacking up with opened boxes of noodles.

I didn’t buy spicy Asian chili sauce, because I honestly just didn’t read the label of what I did buy. I saw that it was Asian and that it was red and that it said “chili” so I bought it. Well, it was a sweet red chili sauce, so I just went with it.
I didn’t have anymore red pepper sauce so the end dish wasn’t spicy at all, with the exception of the tad bit of spice I think sesame brings to the table.

I thought it was delicious, and it was really easy to make. Although now I have all these sauces that I’m going to have to find something to do with. I wish there was a way for me to search ingredients in the cookbook and just make that next. Sigh that would be a lot of work to make my own “database” in the spreadsheet. I guess it will just have to wait until I come across something that uses that kind of sauce… or just make this stir fry again because I really did enjoy it.

I use a bit more shrimp that the recipe called for because I didn’t want to save what was left in the bag. I’ll say thumbs up on this recipe. An easy one to make on a weeknight if you’re interested.

Shrimp Po' Boys

This was probably my favorite thing we made this weekend. It was so easy (because I didn’t really follow the recipe) and so delicious. I ended up buying already breaded shrimp and just baked it in the oven. A lot of the recipes in this book require frying and I refuse to purchase a fryer. So if I can bake it… I’m going to bake it. I loved the mayo/pickle/onion sauce on the sandwiches and thought the shrimp was very tasty.

It was tad hard to eat because the shrimp kept falling out, but the shrimp was just as good dipped in my mayo mixture as it was on the sandwich.
I didn’t bake the bread because I was hungry and didn’t care enough to wait. Plus I had to bake the shrimp also. I’ll make these again I think. There’s still some shrimp in the freezer and plenty of the rolls that I purchased left. It will probably be on my dinner menu here the next couple days so the bread doesn’t go to waste! Thumbs up!
