Edge of Tomorrow (Live Die Repeat) - A

Quick Hit: A very entertaining film that hits hard, and somehow spins an action-sci-fi-romance story that is held together by a strong cast.

When Edge of Tomorrow opened, I was super unimpressed. Going into the film, I was confused by the title, since I honestly thought it was called Live, Die, Repeat since that was what the ad campaign seemed to roll with. However, after an initial start that was a bit rocky, I fell in love with this film.

This review is probably going to be shorter than usual because I couldn't really find much about it that I didn't like. The plot is interesting, if you are a nerd like me. Earth is being attacked by a alien species that is known as Mimics (not sure why).
After our hero (Tom Cruise) is pushed into a battle that he doesn't want to be in, he is killed, after he kills a large blue Mimic.

The next day, he wakes up and repeats the day. Over, and over, and over again. Eventually he saves a blonde woman, Rita (Emily Blunt). He finds out she has gone through the same thing. From there, I won't ruin things.

The actors in this movie are tremendous. Blunt is someone that you fall in love with. She is such a badass that you can't help but fear her, but her beauty consistently makes you wonder anyway. Cruise is amazing in several scenes. He makes you think of his very famous character, Ethan Hunt, more than once in the action scenes.  But some of his best scenes are when he is convincing people that he has lived this day  hundreds of times before. His fast talking

quotes of other peoples words and actions are just superb. The interactions between the two are really believable, which leads to a satisfying conclusion.

Bill Paxton is a wonder as Farell. Though I couldn't help finding myself picturing him as Chet from Weird Science (If I could ever get Shannon to review that, it would blow people's minds). The side characters from squad J are all different, and I think you could make an entire movie out of their day-to-day lives. Something that just occurred to me is that this movie is basically an action movie Groundhog Day. And like I said... that makes it awesome. Yay for eighties movies!

So Edge of Tomorrow is great. I give it an A and recommend you check it out if you like Sci-Fi or Action films.
